After many years I realized my love for wine came after my professional engagement in the sector of hospitality for 18 years. Guests from all around the world taught me, all those years, how easy it is to communicate when there is wine along with us. The courses and the sommelier degree from WSPC organization (www.wspc.gr) help me to communicate the wine easier.

Kefalonia is blessed for the wine lover. The native varieties, the variety of soils as limestone or clay soils, the old viniculture treatments as canopy of bush vines, the small vineyards and the tasks by hand , some appellations of origin for some varieties, make the wine story of Kefalonia an amazing tale.

Kefalonia Island boasts an illustrious history of winemaking, with a diverse range of grape varieties grown across the region, including Robola, Vostilidi, and Mavrodafni.

Robola, in particular, is a local favorite and a must-try for wine connoisseurs visiting the island. This white grape variety produces a distinctive, aromatic wine with a refreshing acidity and a delicate floral and citrus bouquet.

Vostilidi, a white grape variety grown predominantly in the southern part of the island, is known for producing rich, full-bodied wines with a complex flavor profile that marries well with the region’s traditional cuisine.

Mavrodafni, on the other hand, is a red grape variety that is used to make Kefalonia’s renowned dessert wine.
